There's something that didn't seem to add up and that was Georgie's death.
When the clown lurked Georgie at the start of the movie, Georgie was a bit nervous but didnt seem to be scared. They had a nice chit chat and the kid seemed to like Pennywise and even thinking of going down to the sewer until Pennywise started being a douche - not giving him his boat - and eventually killing Georgie.
Correct me if im wrong, but the clown feeds off children's fears. I really dont think that the kid was more scared than at least 3 of these kids :

Stefan when he went to his dads office and saw the ugly monster woman come out of the portrait. U could say he ran away but the clown can close the door if he wants to.

Bill (I think that Georgies brother name) when he went down the creepy ass basement, saw his brother and the clown come out of the water. The clown was so close to him and made the move too late.

The smallest kid in the group when he went to the Pennywise house for the first time and got cornered near the fense was scared shitless. This was by far the scarriest point in the film and no way he should have survived that. The fact that clown let him escape made no sense to me.
U could argue that Georgie was already scared when he went down the basement at the start of the film but i still dont see how its supposed to match the 3 kids who saw the clown and knew that it was a monster.
