I'm a film student and I'm in pre-production of my thesis film. One of my assignments for class is to bring in a scene that captures a technique, mood, or atmosphere from my story.
Honestly... I'm drawing a blank on a tangible scene, but I can articulate the ideas I want to convey, maybe you guys have some ideas of movie scenes that capture the same essence? Thought I'd give it a shot!
Most of the film is somber, reflective, introspective, dull. Imagine a guy sitting on his bed, natural sunlight pouring in through the window, as he just sits and reflects on his life and his relationships with others in it. That's a tone I want to capture... but I can't think of any scenes that really hit that nail on the head.
OR...
A technique I'd like to use is is similar to Harry Potter when he first gets handed "his" wand and his hair starts blowing in the wind, the lights flicker, and the room goes crazy with magic. But in my story the effect is more sudden and lasts longer. Basically a ghost is making its presence known and it's an "a-ha" moment for the audience. Any ideas for a scene that captures that would also work!
Just really can't think of any examples... you guys have anything?
