While Linda Hamilton returning is kind of cool surprise, I wish they would just stop with all the time travel fuckery and leave John/Sarah Connor alone. The sequels thus far have sucked largely because they keep trying to find a way to repackage the original Terminator story in some bigger/flashier way, and it never works. I doubt this one will suck as hard Genisys, but it'll never be as good as the first couple movies.
But, it's still an interesting universe. I'd love to see a more straight-forward, time travel free movie about Judgement Day from the perspective of someone who isn't destined to save everything. Give us a sequel starring some average joe who worked at Skynet when the machines took over.
Maybe he's just a janitor who's got a family to support. Maybe a lab tech who worked for Skynet, until the Terminators arose to punish mankind for their curiosity. You maybe have them eventually meet up with John Connor, and maybe play some part in the resistance, but I think they'd be better off thinking smaller. I want to see a slice of life movie about a future ruled by murderous machines, not whatever nostalgia-baiting fuck party this movie is going to be.
It doesn't have to be so complicated.
