Horror movies are usually mocked for the incredibly dumb and ilogical decisions that the characters make. Even if the characters are under extreme stress and fear they make mistakes that are so basic and obious that are completly unbelievable. From classics like "let's split up", "I will check that noise in the dark alone" and "triping and then not continue to run" to more specific ones like "trying to scape through the doggy door" in Scream and "not getting out of the water" in PiraƱa 3D, I could go all day with this. So the core of most deaths in this movies are bad decisions, is there a particular reason why this happens? It makes the movie predictable and borring. Wouldn't it be more interesting if the characters were smart or even just average but with common sense but they still get killed or in trouble because the situation is simply way out of their hands and understanding?
