positivechange

I currently weight less than I have ever weighed, even throughout highschool. This completely blows my mind, not only am I in the best shape of my life, but I feel great all the time!

I really want everyone to feel as amazing as I do and it's totally not about weight, but progression. Every small improvement you can make is one step closer to the optimal diet your body needs to preform effectively and efficiently. Making progress is also a huge confidence booster!

I know it's hard with literally the world working against you, (sugar, carb ads everywhere) but I think your own health and longevity is the most important thing you can put time into. At this point I feel it's very irresponsible with the amount of information we know, not to start working on health.

Here are some of the things that made the biggest impact for me.

  1. Fasting everyday. I fast for 18-20 hours a day, if you can't eat, then it will greatly reduce the amount of food you take in and make things easier, if you get hungry drink water. There are also a million other benefits, such as autophagy.

  2. Zero refined sugars. This is the one thing you can do, that will give the biggest improvement to your overall health. To much sugar overfeeds the bacteria candida, causing more cravings. So yes it will be crazy hard to quit at the start, but trust me, it's worth it. I had trouble with this one.

  3. Learning how to cook. Of course you are going to hate eating a dry overcooked piece of meat and veggies. Learning to use different flavor combinations and ingredients makes eating healthy amazing.

  4. For me, the keto diet has been fantastic, I would suggest looking into it and the benefits.

  5. Surrounding yourself with other people that have similar goals. Joining boxing and listening to very passionate people on diet via podcast has continuously motivated me to get better. I recommend Dr Rhonda Patrick on JRE, Joe asks all the right questions.

  6. Not buying all the things that I know suck, and replacing them with something better. You need a replacement so you do the fall back into the bad eating habits.

  7. Not beating myself up if I do have a bad day. It can happen, we are only human, but learn from what made you cheat and stay positive!

  8. Making weekly or even daily goals. Don't say I want to lose x by the end of the months, that's so unmotivating. If you say I want to eat no bread today and replace the bread with a side of sweet potatoes. That's a great start, slow and steady wins the race!

  9. Making my diet enjoyable. You can't maintain something you hate for very long. So make sure to incorporate some of your favorite foods in, if it's something unhealthy, look into a healthy alternative, trust me, there always is one. For me it's a nice fatty seared steak.

  10. Don't pay attention to peoples opinions and choices. Always do your own research and make sure it's from a credible peer reviewed source. It's really hard to know what's true and what's not, especially when you have people throwing bro science at you. Never let anyone change your mind or convince you to eat x. I doubted myself at times and thought to mention this, as it did effect my mind set.

  11. Thinking of food in different way. I think of food as fuel to my engine, if I am constantly putting something in me that has no nutritional value, my engine will run unfavorably and explode early.

  12. Thinking of my body in a different way. This is my meat vehicle that I need in order to function on this planet. I really need to take care of it and make sure it's healthy. I want to maintain my lifestyle when I'm in my 80s and 90s. This isn't a short term thing, always think about the later years of your life, sure you may feel fine now but it catches up to you.

  13. Not everything works for everyone. Make sure to get blood work and other tests done before you start, its really great to have a baseline. Get the same checks done again in 6 month or so.

If you read this far, I'm super happy your serious about making a difference in your life.

Be disciplined, and really believe that you are capable of what you are set out to do, tell yourself every single day if you have to. I really believe in you, I know it will be extremely difficult, but once you conquer that mountain you will feel that much better.

Please ask me any questions you might have!

My next post will be about the proper foods to eat, as I know it can be very confusing. Thanks for reading and I really hope someone finds this valuable!
