Will Blade Runner 2049's low box office numbers effect Villeneuve's Dune chances?

Well the weekend box office numbers are in for BR2049, and they're not good. $33 million is lower than even the most realistic outlook when the movie came out Thursday, and unless it picks up internationally, it's not going to make a lot of money.

That said, will Villeneuve's recent previous successes (Arrival, Prisoners, Sicario) make studios want to give him another chance? My biggest fear is that studios are turned off by the low numbers and won't give him the budget he needs to make Dune great.

I'm not a box office analyst, I'm just concerned big execs will choose the money over the quality of the movie. There's no doubt he can make an award-winning movie (which BR2049 should be), but is it enough if the movie doesn't make money?
