My wife and I are having a discussion about holiday movies and we have differing opinions on what constitutes a holiday movie. I say that if a movie takes place during or around a holiday it can be considered a movie for that holiday. Die Hard, for example, can be considered a Christmas movie. I also think E.T. would be a Halloween movie. She disagrees on both opinions. She says the movie has to be about the holiday in order to be categorized under that holiday. Like A Christmas Story or Trick r Treat. It made me curious as to what everyone else thinks.
tldr; does a movie have to be about a holiday to be categorized under that holiday or can it simply take place during or around that holiday?
