The Thrill-ogy of C. S. Lewis continues in this epic film that was released in 2010. The adventures of the Pevensies continue along with their cousin Eustace. I will say this film is more of a bonding experience between family members. This was depicted in three ways during the film. The first one is between the three cousins. The second one is between creatures: Eustace as a dragon and Reepicheep the Valiant Mouse-keteer. And thirdly, the gathering of all the Sever Lords. The film is reminiscent of the Argonautic Expedition with Jason and the Golden Fleece. And yet, the irony is that the film does show Eustace as a Golden Dragon. Acting wise, I felt the film threw me off from the prior movies. I felt that Ben Barnes and the two cast members that portrayed Edmund and Lucy were growing up and maybe getting boring of their parts. What I really enjoyed throughout the film was the comedic relief between Eustace and Reepicheep. And also I focused more on the fantasy and magic of the film, with the craftsman of the Swords, Tavros the Bull, and Liliandil, the Blue Star. I was also disappointed with the CGI this time. I felt they were less impressive than the two prior films. Also towards the end of the film, I noticed the Leviathan CGI was very reminiscent of the classic Ray Harryhausen era type monsters of the sword and sandal movies. All in all, this film gets 3.5 ASH-STARS from me.
