Hey redditors. I'm sharing the story of how an old student of mine motivated me. Back in high-school I used to coach the JV basketball team. On the day of our semi-finals, I realized that some benchwarmers were dissatisfied with themselves. As a former benchmelter, I knew exactly what they felt. A sort of embarrassment and this feeling of worthlessness. Just sitting on the bench and watch the team lose sucks ass. So that night, I texted those bench warmers and gave cheered them up. I told them how I too was a bench warmer back then and that they should never give up. The team eventually got third place.
I have been very busy since then, and to be honest, I was feeling depressed. It sucked to watch other people strive while I was crawling in the pit. That's when I got a message from this student. "This message still motivates me up to this day. Thanks so much u are the best coach I had." I felt so overwhelmed by this message. I completely forgot about this incident and just reading that filled me up. It reminded me of my time as a coach and how enthralled I was when everyone enjoyed being on the team. Realizing that my words helped someone helped me gain confidence and motivated me. The power of words is simply astonishing.
So yeah redditors, I wanted to tell you guys that you can do it. Every single one of you carry this energy within yourselves. Believe in yourself and acknowledge that you can do it.
