In 2010 seventeen additional minutes of perfectly perserved lost footage of the film, "2001: A Space Odyseey" was discovered in a Kansas Salt Mine. Warner Brothers has no immediate plans to release the footage out of respect to Stanley Kubrick since he cut that footage after the NY Premiere.
