Blade Runner 2049: Wallace's Plan (SPOILERS!)

For everyone that saw the movie (the more I think about it, the more I love it) - what did you think of Niander Wallace's plan? Do you think it was evil, unethical, or was it necessary?

Personally, I'm torn. I'm of the opinion that he is not evil, but doing what was necessary for the human race to expand and survive. He clearly cares about humanity - he genetically engineered food for the world and he's expanding humans throughout space.

I can understand the allegorical story of Replicants as slaves and their craving for freedom and humanity, but looking at it from within the world of Blade Runner, the Replicants are man-made tools to be used and discarded as humanity spreads. They are like hammers and nails in a house. Should we weep when we have to throw away a bent nail?

On the other hand, the fact that the Replicants are so human-like with the ability to feel pain, to feel anger, to love, to yearn for more...it's difficult for me to completely root for Wallace.

What do you all think?
