Blade Runner 2049 enjoyable if I didnt like the original?

I know, I'm wierd but I Honestly hated the original blade runner. I found it pretty uneventful and just plain weird. That being said, the new movie looks pretty good, but I'm hesitant to give it a watch because of my feelings toward the original. So, is it more eventful than the original? Is it as "wierd" as the original? Thanks

P.s. I know how influential and special the first Blade Runner was to sci-fi films and all movies, I just personally hate it.
