'Some Freaks' is the first film in a while to make me feel really, really uncomfortable.

It starts as a nice coming-of-age high school drama about social outcasts falling for each other. You root for them. You want them to succeed even if there are a few speedbumps along the way. The actors, mostly unknown (save for the lead who has a few decent projects under his belt) give surprisingly good performances, and you think that the film would show them on the way to bigger and better things with their lives.

I'll save the rest as spoilers, but the film has a very dark edge about it, and I think it's probably one of the better portrayals of how people who feel (and are treated as) ostracized by the general social circles of young adulthood can very easily trudge down paths that are pitiful, shameful, and downright sad. Many films like to imbue the viewer with hope that the future will be bright for the trope-induced awkward teen without social skills but 'special ability', but in terms of tangibility and reality, that's an infrequent occurrence in day-to-day life.

So, with regard to ratings, 8/10. I recommend it.
