So how is American Assassin not just The Punisher and Wanted remixed into a movie?

Now that the general word is that the movie isn't very good I'm hoping to get a full spoiler explanation of how the story is any different from those two. Not necessarily those two movies but borrowing the stories' basic concepts.

1. Punisher- man looses loved ones cause other people are killing each other, man goes nuts and starts killing all the people that kill each other.

2. Wanted- emotionally unstable man is recruited by self righteous organization of professional killers who turn out to maybe not be so self righteous as the seem.

Please don't write some rude, demeaning rant (or do and I'll laugh at you). I'm asking this as an honest curiosity now that I've lost my desire to see it in theaters or at all. Maybe you'll tell me something that resparks my interest. Maybe you'll make me regret buying this "mother!" ticket.
