RIP Hans Alfredson

Hans Alfredson has done a lot for Swedish Cinema. Hans, together with Tage Danielsson (the comedic duo Hasse & Tage) made my father's favorite movie of all time, Docking the Boat from 1965. Hans Alfredson played a mad fisherman in it and it is easily the best performance in it. Hasse & Tage also made Another great Comedy, The Adventures of Picasso from 1978.

But arguably his best film, that he also wrote, directed and had a huge role in was The Simple-Minded Murderer. This was the movie that made Stellan Skarsgård in to a huge movie star and a respected actor (he got the Guldbagge, the Swedish Oscar, for best actor) in Sweden and lead to him being able to get good roles in the US. This also lead to his sons being able to get good roles in Swedish and later on American series/films. Alexander Skarsgård (Tarzan in the new Tarzan movie), Gustaf Skarsgård (Floki in Vikings), Bill Skarsgård (Pennywise in the new It movie), Valter Skarsgård (still only doing Scandinavian series/films but he will also go to the US soon most likely) and two more who are still young kids but will probably be actors in the future.

Hans Alfredson is also father of the great director Tomas Alfredson (director of Let the Right one In + Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). I hope his new movie, The Snowman coming later this year will be good. Daniel Alfredson, Hans' other son is an okay director, he directed the second and third movie of the "Millennium" trilogy: The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest.

Summary: Hans Alfredson made classic swedish movies, Tomas Alfredson and is the source for all the Skarsgård being famous actors.
