Question about something in 'It' (2017)

Towards the end of the new 'It', Bill says something to the extent of, "We're not scared anymore, you're scared because you're going to starve." So we know It feeds off of people, especially kids because they scare easier and scared flesh tastes better to It. So in the end, all the kids are putting a whooping on It and end up driving it back, but why would they think that would stop it from feeding completely? Sure, they are stronger and when they are together they seem to be able to defeat It, but what about when they are alone? Or how about literally everyone else in the town who isn't a part of the Losers? Aren't they still good pickin's for It to take and feed off of? I was just confused as to how this group of 6 or 7 kids supposedly drove It back for good (or at least for another 27 years) instead of just causing it to go after others. I never read the books though, so maybe someone can enlighten me? I enjoyed the movie, just had a few questions like that.
