When EOT came out, waves of bad press came about how it was bombing and wouldn't make back its budget and calling Cruise no longer a star. Then EOT held great, passed 100m domestic, on its way to 370m worldwide, and we now have a sequel on the way.
American Made is getting the same treatment from journalists. As early as yesterday afternoon, Variety was calling it a flop. Of course now that it is performing above expectations and has a chance at landing at no. 1 this weekend, the articles have changed to reflect that as if they never prematurely called it a flop.
