I just saw Darren Aronofsky's latest movie, Mother! Starring Jennifer Lawrence & Javier Bardem. First off, there will immediately be spoilers for the big twist so WARNING: <<<<SPOILERS>>>> Second I just want to say IDGAF about karma, I just seriously need some feedback from total strangers that love movies.
OK. There is a twist in this movie towards then endish that should be very obvious once you have finished the movie... but apparently people are writing reviews who just. don't. get it. This makes me sad. So, without further ado I will spoil things. Please look away if you're offended my knowing the thing.
The two main male and female characters are supposed to be Earth and God. Somehow, despite retelling all of human history, showing Adam & Eve, & killing Jesus, people think this is still just a movie about a woman with a crazy husband who has her home ruined by a lot of (7 billion) party crashers.
Are people really so stupid that they can't see the obvious here? Again, Aronofsky is super strange (as are his movies), but I felt this was pretty clear, and, once I got it, the movie made a lot more sense. Still a lot of problems, but considering I once saw Tree of Life, I need to know about other people's opinions. Light me up, I don't care, I just need to know.
