I never understood the hype over Adam Sandler. His comedy was crude. He always had to play himself up as this narcissistic he-man who got the hot girl. His comedy was very douche-y. Like, Happy Gilmore was just him beating up people and going mental.
Melissa McCarthy. There have been plus-sized comics but what I loved about John Candy is that he rarely used his weight for comedy. You could see a film like Uncle Buck and you never got a joke about how fat he was. That part could have easily been played by a skinny man. But McCarthy seems to thrive on going for the fat jokes which are pretty tired. And her comedy is too broad. There's no subtlety.
Pauly Shore. Thank god the public quickly realized there's a difference between being funny and being annoying. Doing obnoxious voices and acting super effeminate is not comedy, it's lazy humor.
Rob Schneider. I actually think Rob Schneider has talent but the material he gets is just horrible. As bad as The Hot Chick was, I was impressed by how he emulated the typical aspects of a teenage girl but the screenplay and direction sucked and something like Deuce Bigelow was just terrible. Not even Don Rickles could have made it work.
