Click would've been a better movie if it was a drama

I genuinely think that the remote concept was really neat, and for what it was worth they utilized it pretty well. But I could do away with all the fart jokes, cheap racist humor, and the dog and the duck plush gag that they ran into the ground. I don't think there was a single joke in this film that made me laugh at all, although I did find Adam Sandler getting scared and plowing through his table when Chris Walken was in his house fucking hilarious. Underneath all this infantile potty humor is a real heart to this film though. The struggle between Sandler's obligations to his job and to his family was poignant. Sacrifice was a central topic of this film that I think they developed quite well. I think if there were more moments like that scene where he tells his father he loves him and his death scene in the rain, then this would've turned out to be a decent film. I think the film would've worked way better as a drama, because those scenes I just mentioned had actual emotion behind them and are the scenes I remember most. It's too bad scenes like those were scattered so far and few between throughout this film. Also, I did find it kinda lazy how it was just a bad dream in the end. I feel like there were more creative ways they could've told us it wasn't real then have it just be a dream. Like maybe the remote should've been real, and he hits the rewind button back to the start of the film as a changed man. Sure, he can't get rid of the remote completely, but he doesn't actually have to use it does he? I don't know how the thing about going into autopilot in the shower and at work factors in though. And maybe there could've been an extra five or so minutes at the end to show how much he changes. I don't think it's enough to have him go out and buy gifts for his family and hug his parents. But that's just my 0.02.
