Annoyed by this small detail in 'Prisoners'

So I just watched Prisoners thanks to a Reddit recommendation. It was a great movie but a small detail annoyed me. (Spoilers)

So I didn't have this movie pegged as a 'twist' ending movie, but arguably there's a whodunnit aspect to the movie. I wasn't specifically looking to 'figure out' the ending but an early scene in the movie really forecasted the ending.

An early scene has Jake Gylenhaal's character visit a woman who lost her son to a kidnapping. The photos of this son show a child who has the exact same haircut as Paul Dano's character. I immediately clued into the fact that the missing child was the same person as Paul Dano's character, and hence that the Aunt was the likely abductor. I may not have picked up on this if the child wasn't shown or at least had a slightly different haircut.

This small detail of the haircut annoyed me because it really took the suspense right out of the movie for me and just seemed completely needless. Anyone else have the same experience with his movie or another??
