Every once in a while there comes a movie that does not have mind-blowing cinematography or an organized plot, yet it continues to stick with you. I recently re-watched A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints with Robert Downey Jr., Shia LaBeouf and Channing Tatum. Although the plot is loose, it is based off of an autobiography and is therefore an awesome character exploration piece. Because the film relied so much on a natural, chaotic and yet organic tone, the actors carried much of the weight of the film. The great performances from Shia and Channing were subtle when needed and dramatically emotional when needed as well. I am looking to analyze another great character-driven movie for my blog. Suggestions?
