The scene I'm talking about. It sounds like person reading the letter (Iris's dad) isn't actually grateful, the voice is very forced and artificial. I thought maybe it was because the dad felt like he had to thank him after all the publicity the event had even if he doesn't actually want Iris back (she sounded pretty sure she couldn't make fix the relationship when she was having breakfast with Travis).
