JJ has decided to remake a one year old, globally successful Japanese movie with an almost all white cast.
The question for every remake is: what does the director look to achieve? Do they think they can do better? Do they think it is so old that a large number of people have missed out on it?
So why is JJ remaking a brand new movie, drastically changing the cast (race and age), and the settings of the story? Greed and bigotry.
He wants to leech off its fame and reputation, but also feels that the foreign symbolism and culture has to be sanitized...because JJ thinks Americans are stupid
