So back in 2011, a trailer was released for an upcoming movie called "Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede" based on the novel of the same name. The story follows a man who is conceived the same day Buddy Holly died named Oliver Vale (played by Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite fame) who is wanted by law enforcement because of his connection to a series of transmissions from Buddy Holly saying he is alive on the Jupiter moon Ganymede, and Vale is to be contacted to help get him home.
The film was scheduled for a 2014 release, but ever since it's initial announcement, all we have to go off of is a teaser trailer, and a Facebook page for the movie that has been defunct for 3 years now.
One could assume the film has just simply been cancelled, but looking on the internet, it's hard to find any information on the film. The first instance of it's announcement was back in 2009, so it's been sitting in development hell for about 8 years now.
Another thing to to notice is the website for the movie aliveandwellmovie.comis now a blog for a Japanese skin care product.
But the real question is, will we ever see the final project or will this forever be an example of Lost in Development?
We may never know.
