Theories on the yellow powder medicine in Mother!

(I'm gonna assume the people reading this understand the Bible allegories and mother Earth metaphor)

Is there any chance the yellow powder symbolizes the sun, or sunlight? I'm not very confident, but the supporting evidence would be:

  • Obvious connection: the powder is yellow and sparkly like the sun
  • When she's painting the walls in the beginning, she first puts a grayish color on the wall. Then, she adds some of the yellow powder to the paint, making it brighter and more vibrant, which she seems to prefer. This might symbolize how the sun allowed Earth to go from an empty rock to being completely covered with bright colored vegetation
  • The sun kind of makes sense as a medicine, just because it's the energy source behind all life on earth and it's the body that the earth orbits around.
  • In the early stages of humanity, before Christianity and monotheism in general, many humans worshiped the Sun. So it kind of makes sense that she poured the yellow power down the toilet as soon as she got pregnant. That might represent the shift from sun-worship to Christianity (since the baby she was impregnated with was Jesus). In other words, when Jesus/Christianity came along, they replaced paganism and sun worship.

It still doesn't seem too concrete though, especially the reason she poured it out when she got pregnant.

Can anyone provide anymore details on the theory about The Yellow Wallpaper novel? I'm not familiar with it, but a lot of people seem convinced that it is the correct interpretation of the powder.

Also, if anyone has any theories about the symbolism behind her mini-seizures, that seem to make time jump forward, I'd be curious to hear those too!
