Some thoughts I had after watching Nocturnal Animals.

I rarely analyse a movie too much after watching it, but this is one of those movies where this so much meaning behind every scene that you have to. Really powerful movie with some top-notch performances, especially from Aaron Taylor-Johnson & Michael Shannon (oscar worthy in my opinion). This may be an obvious analysis of the movie and excuse me if it is, but I feel Ray (Johnson) represents Armie Hammer's character in that he took Edward's wife and daughter from him and got away with it. The broken tire that Tony suffers in the road incident seems to be a metaphor for his failed marriage in real life with Susan (Amy Adams). Ray, who is reflective of Susan's new husband in real life, offers to fix the tire but essentially this is for his own gain so that the car can be used for his escape with Tony's wife and daughter. In real life, Susan's new husband took advantage of her failed marriage with Edward and fixed it by providing her with a stable life and a new daughter. Does anybody else think the same?
