I've always felt Saoirse Ronan was going to be a big star. I've always had this feeling like I knew Natalie Portman was going to be a big star when I saw Leon and this was way before Star Wars landed her on the map.
Ronan has been consistently great since she got her break with Atonement. For almost every film she did, good or bad, the critics loved her. The Host almost killed her career, this was supposed to be her YA moment, the movie that would place her as the next J-Law or K-Stew and it didn't but that worked out in her favor because it allowed her to focus on making good movies.
I didn't love Brooklyn, I thought it was too soapy for my taste, but Ronan was great and that really made her more relevant. So happy that Lady Bird is getting so many rave reviews and an Oscar nom seems dead cert.
