I've always had this question, "What's the absolute worst thing that could happen to someone?". Imagine this:
- Every Female you've ever known in your entire life is getting raped. Your 10 year old sister, your pregnant wife, your mom, everybody. Their throats are slit open, pregnant women's stomach chopped open afterwards.
- Evert Male you know is getting castrated, and then shot.
- And you're chained in a closed room, just waiting for your turn.
Not a scratch on your body, not a wound, but your Heart & Brain would be exploding of emotions, and you would be broken and passed out within minutes, just hearing those sounds.
It is terrifying to even imagine this, but these things actually happened in real world somewhere in Middle East.
This animated movie is based on the Sabra and Shatila massacre, where all these things actually happened in real life. The movie was a very brave attempt, but captured all the emotions perfectly. It is narrated in an infantry soldier's (who was part of the group which carried out the Massacre) perspective.
I watched it some 5 years ago, and it shook me to my core. I spent hours & days pondering about it. I still think about the movie sometimes, but for some reason, don't want to watch it for a second time. It's like that horrific death of a dear person, which you still remember but don't want to experience it again.
I don't want to spoil about the movie, but if you haven't watched it already, watch it. And watch it when you are not sad/depressed. It is a really really unique cinematic experience that you have to feel.
