Not a fan of Korean film but The Treacherous is one of the better films i've ever watched in my life

Was messing around on the net when i chanced upon this film, fair warning first though, it can be a pretty disturbing film. Lots of nudity, and certain scenes reminded me of caligula as well. Though surprisingly, there isn't any real male genitals exposed nor vagina shots. Wasn't expecting much as i don't really appreciate korean film but wow, the emotional ride it brought me through was really intense.

The Treacherous actually refers to a political term "the treacherous subject"; where the subject in question sucks up and follows his emperor's commands and rules blindly, especially when it is obviously morally wrong, but does it for the purpose of gaining favor and power with the emperor and the court.

The main character of this film is literally the "treacherous subject", and it shows how depraved people can be when in power. The emperor implements this new edict, where his appointed officials will go around korea gathering women they deem attractive enough for him, and they are seperated from the husbands and fathers and pressed into an intensive sexual grooming regime. The main character falls in love with this seemingly random woman and brings about a romance arc that is so gut-wrenching i literally just sat in front of the screen for a good few minutes trying to process it and the ending.

If you're not too perturbed by sexual torture, tyrannical executions, and enjoy a bit of medieval court intrigue (albeit a medieval korean version) and romance, i strongly believe you would enjoy this film.

I don't actually post on reddit much, in fact i only come on to find out answers/discuss about stuff but when i realised i couldn't find anything on this film i had to post it so people can watch and talk about it with me. Let me know what you think if you've watched it! IMDB link here: http://ift.tt/1ZS1g4d
