First and foremost I am not a movie buff. I tend to dislike artsy fartsy type movies but I absolutely LOVED this movie.
Before seeing "Mother!" I had pretty much come to terms with the fact I was so desensitized that no movie ever was going to disturb me. This movie brought back the feeling I had when I was a 6 year old kid watching the Texas Chain Saw Massacre for the first time. It made me hold my breath, it made my jaw drop, it kept my eyes wide, it got me frustrated, angry, frightened, and it had me leaving the theater in feeling alive.
I went to see this movie with my gf. Throughout the fourth quarter of the movie she was so frighted that squeezed my hands until they went numb. She even cried at the most disturbing part of the movie and left hating it. It's also important to note that she was not equipped to understand what the movie was referencing. My background, however, allowed me to, which for me was absolutely necessary for me in order to enjoy the movie.
Anyways, loved the movie. Absolutely loved it. It was like being in an escalator that just kept going higher and higher and not once did the slope become less steep. Even if you end up hating the movie, at the very least, Mother will have made you feel something.
