I cannot stand those who go on and on about how women are not meant to beat up men in Film, they're not strong enough, it's fiction, yada yada yada and I'm like, dude, it's an ACTION movie. It's not supposed to be a Martin Scorsese picture. Do these people truly believe Matt Damon could jump from one building to another? That Vin Diesel can drive a car from a skyscraper to another in Dubai? That Jonah Hill could be a cop in the 21 Jump Street movies? Yet nobody ever has anything to say about that. Only when women get to be the hero, suddenly SOME critics decide it's a problem.
I will say there are times where I do roll my eyes. Like on those cop shows where all the women look like they belong to a fashion house as opposed to a division. When you have someone who looks the part, I'm sold. You know, Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley (and Ripley wasn't even a fighter), Gina Carano or Michelle Rodriguez in anything. But even if they don't, I could enumerate many cases where the leading men look too out of place. Kevin Spacey in The Negotiator? That was just funny.
