If you were a big film producer, would you rather see a franchise helmed by multiple directors with new takes, or one director, one vision?

The upcoming release of Blade Runner 2049 got me thinking about this question. How much of Denis Villeneuve's vision is going to be different than Ridley Scott's (and I have no no doubt in my mind it's going to be brilliant)? Then it made me think of franchises like Star Wars (both original and new) and the MCU and how each film has had different directors, and have been successful in their own right. On the other hand, there's masterful trilogies like The Dark Knight and Indiana Jones that were entrusted by one guy's vision. Then again, we've seen what happens when a director stays on one property for too long (Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3).
