How to enjoy mother! ?

I haven't seen mother! yet but I do want to. Unfortunately I'm not as "appreciative" for artsy films as I wish I were. I'm also not "highly film literate" either. Or maybe I am, but let's say I'm not. What are some tips you'd give for enjoying mother! ? And did you genuinely enjoy the movie? Asking because of its CinemaScore, but then I don't entirely trust that since The Witch got a C-
