I have a theory that genres can be put into 2 categories; Emotion and Setting. Emotion is what we experience during the movie. Setting is the Period and Time. Emotion genres are; Action, and Horror. Actions emotion being excitement. Horror being fear. Setting genres are; Adventure, Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Western. For example if take Star Wars and make it contemporary instead of Science Fiction, it no longer occurs in space. Therefore it will only be and an Action-Adventure.
I need help updating and correcting this theory.
