Angelina Jolie's new film is in Khmer-language and I assume that Jolie doesn't speak it herself. That got me thinking what are the other films made by director in language he/she didn't knew? Mel Gibson's Apocalypto and The Passion of the Christ come to mind, but are there others?
I remember also reading that when Jules Dassin (director of Rififi) was blacklisted in Hollywood and went to work in France he sparely spoke few words in French, but I am not sure if he learned it more before shooting his first film.
