Saw a post about Fantastic Beasts and it got me thinking. I feel like most movies these days are below average. Theres just so much crap out there and in turn, I think I have lowered my bar for what I feel is a decent film. I actually think its helped me enjoy movies more; average movies feel a bit above average and movies that are good to great just feel much more enjoyable. I think the reverse is also true. Hot trash movies like Independence Day 2 look that much worse.
For example, Fantastic Beasts. Not an amazing movie, but good enough. When you look at other movies from that year, it looks better comparatively.
I guess my point is that with few original ideas, remakes, reboots, and sequels in today's cinema industry, a solid flick will look much shinier than it should.
