Did "Shot Caller" not get a theatrical release? And if not, how come?

I watched Shot Caller about a month ago and before doing so I had noticed that it was scheduled to get a theatrical release date set for August 18, 2017. That date came and went and I had completely forgotten about the film. Until today at least.

I've searched the film and see that it's available on several streaming platforms, but that's about it. Did Saban scrap a theatrical release or something? I actually wanted to see this film on the silver screen. It was very enjoyable and I think would be great in a cinema. So, anyone have any updates?
