Birth of the Dragon seemed to be an utterly terrible movie, but when I decided to see how bad the reviews were on imdb and rotten tomatoes I made some peculiar discoveries.
So here is Birth of the Dragon's rotten tomatoes user reviews, I linked the most suspicious page. As you can see on August 28th a whole bunch of users rated the movie 5 stars with, mostly, very low effort reviews(that movie also being the only movie they rated.) Another thing to note is that even classic movies have an actual fluctuation in review score, unlike this movie which had about a dozen of the same.
Now Birth of the Dragon's imdb rating summary. While a 4.4 wouldn't seem like something that is unusual for a low quality movie, from the review summary we can see that half of the people who voted, voted 1-star; yet, a fourth of the reviewers voted 10 stars. I've never seen a divide like this before. If this were a usual situation all of the reviews would hover around the majority, in this case being 1-star. Unfortunately, most of these reviews weren't text reviews so there is no real way to determine the age of accounts or anything like that, but it's suspicious none the less.
I may be wrong about this, which is part of the reason I'm posting here. Do you guys think this looks suspicious too?
