If you claim to support original movies, this month has been full of them

Just checking what's playing at my local theater it has:

  • All Saints
  • Baby Driver
  • Birth of the Dragon
  • Leap
  • Logan Lucky
  • Hitman's Bodyguard
  • Ingrid Goes West
  • Good Time
  • In This Corner of the World
  • Kidnap
  • Wind River
  • Dunkirk
  • Girl's Trip

Hell you can even count the Emoji movie if you want. Some theaters were also able to get smaller releases like Brigsby Bear and Ghost Story. It's super frustrating to know all of these options are available and still see people complain about a lack of original movies. This month has been filled to the brim with them and a lot of them are failing. It comes to a point where it's no longer the fault of the nebulous "hollywood" that big budget movies are dominated by sequels and reboots. If you claim to care about original movies, then take a chance on one of them. That's just the nature of something original. If you never see movies in theaters, you lose the right to bitch about what comes out through them. Doubly so if you only watch movies by pirating them.
