Do you have to watch V/H/S to understand V/H/S/2?

Just read that the second one is an improvement on the original, wondering if there's any connective tissue or if I can just start with the sequel?

Also I am still writing words because I have to meet a certain word count to make sure this post isn't deleted. The mobile app doesn't tell me the word count which is kind of dumb. Do you think this is enough? I don't feel like manually counting every word I have typed.
