Some of you have probably heard the opinion shared by some that Darth Vader got ironically less interesting when we learned more of his backstory and motivations, and that he always left a bigger impression when that was mostly left to our imagination.
Whether or not you agree with this, I'd like to know if there perhaps are cases where a movie decided to cash in on a big character's origin story, and you think it shouldn't have been done. Not that this particular attempt was bad, but specifically that it shouldn't have been attempted in the first place, that the character in mind is better if we don't know where they came from, or what makes them tick.
Or, maybe you can tell me about characters who this HASN'T happened to yet, and you can explain why you think they're perfect the way they are.
