Alien V. Predator: Requiem is likely not your favorite movie of all time, but my friends and I were hyped for it to redeem the mediocrity of the original AVP. Sadly we watched a trailer for the film, once we saw the movie, we noticed that the character shown dying in the trailer was in fact a main character of the film, who didn't die until well past the 1 hour mark.
Fast forward to today. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is also probably not your favorite movie of all time, but in the trailers they reveal that a main character is alive, which I found irritating. However when I finally went to see the movie, the issue was far worse, a major plot point in the film was to try and bring back lost memories to said character, however, since we all saw the trailers, we saw almost every action seen the character was in, destroying any kind of tension with this plot point.
It has gotten so bad that Mark Hamill was posting on twitter along with the director of The Force Awakens telling fans to avoid watching any new trailers...
Why is the industry ruining their own storytelling ability?
